Finding the risk management solutionOur approach to Risk identifies the solutions not the problemsThe vast majority of risk studies stop once predictions of a project's over-spend and over-run have been made. Our experience of validating such work often shows these predictions have been incorrectly calculated. But by far the most noticeable thing about such validations is that the assessment stopped at that point, with the problem identified and nothing more. We not only correct such work, we take it, and our own assessments, further by solving the risk calculations to reveal the set of circumstances that would bring completion on time and to budget. Nowadays the sequence of management actions needed to bring about a desired outturn is one of the most crucial results of our studies. We see it very much as part of our solutions-led approach not only to devise it but to deliver it as well. The solutions involve all stakeholders, taking into account their ability and liability in a non-confrontational, considerately negotiated manner.
